So here we are in 2014. Nori Toy was supposed to launch in 2013, at least that is what the landing page has said on our website for a while. Of course things changed. We had our first child, and I had the rare opportunity to stay home and raise our child. As it turns out, a new baby and productivity do not go hand in hand. Raising a baby is likely the hardest job I have ever had. During that time I took a break from working in the mobile game industry and solely focus on taking care of my daughter and establishing a structure for properly taking care of her. Of course during the rare moments of "free time" I worked towards relaunching Nori Toy. I spent a lot of time thinking of what Nori and the shop is supposed to be and began focusing my energy designing, and developing to prepare for 2014.
Over this time I had made tweaks to Nori's character model as well as wrote more into his story and character development of the rest of the cast. Among this I totally simplified and restructured the launch and purpose of Nori Toy.
NT began its life as an Art Toy retail shop. Over time screen printing was added to our list of services and I began to implement other services I normally did as an artist under the Nori branding. It was until I was unhappy with the quality of service the shopping cart we used caused me to shut down everything until I could rebuild it myself. Being a full time art director at an Alt-weekly and later going into iPhone development, I stayed too busy to get things running as I liked. Long story short, we'll save all that for another post, we are ready to relaunch Nori Toy. While I will still be retailing some designer vinyl our priority has changed largely to screen printing and the focus of Nori as a character. He will be making his way into his own toy planned before the end of the year.
Even with all the plans we have to announce we are starting small with the goal of providing the best service and products rather than pump as much out as fast as we can. A few shirts will be making their way to eBay and Etsy in the near future and then we will be going to a larger production of textiles as the new site launches. In addition to that, I will be adding blog posts more regularly that cover things in the toy and design worlds. Thank you for your continued support and interest in Nori Toy and we look forward to all the things we will be sharing with you in 2014 and beyond.
